March 10, 2010- Walt Disney Studios announced that their big summer movie “Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time” will be released on the 28th of May this year to match the original stateside release date of the film.

LOS ANGELES, Mar 10, 2010 (GlobeNewswire via COMTEX) — IMAX Corporation (Nasdaq:IMAX) (TSX:IMX) announced that the epic action-adventure Prince of Persia: The Sand of Time, from Jerry Bruckheimer Films, directed by Mike Newell and starring Jake Gyllenhaal, will be released to IMAX(R) theatres internationally with the film’s wide release on May 28, 2010. The film’s limited international IMAX release will be digitally re-mastered into the image and sound quality of The IMAX Experience(R) with IMAX DMR(R) technology. The crystal-clear images coupled with IMAX’s customized theatre geometry and powerful digital audio create a unique place that will make audiences feel as if they are in the movie.
The movie is set in sixth century Persia. A legendary and very powerful gift from the Gods that is capable of releasing a sandstorm that can destroy the world, the Sands of Time allows its possessor to turn back time. It is said that whoever owns this magical gift can rule the world. An evil nobleman craves for this kind of power so he sets off to take possession of the Sands of Time.
Only one person is capable of defeating this villainous lord and he is no other than the youthful Prince Dastan. The rogue prince teams up with a mysterious princess, Princess Tamina and together they must cooperate to stop the Sands of Time from falling into the wrong hands.
